2024 recap for MN Waterscapes
Hello fellow water gardeners! Happy New Year! Here is a quick recap of life/business from all of us!
January 2024- Our amazing technician Ethan got married to his sweetheart, Alyne!💕
Starting in April, we cleaned and started up 170 ponds and waterfalls. (That’s a lot of slime!) Spring rush also brought many of you to our little greenhouse for water plants. We always enjoy seeing you each spring and talking “plants”. 🌿
Our summer was full of work like repairs, builds, and babies! Chris had a baby boy join his family in August and Alex & Julia (both work for us) had their second daughter, too!🐣
In July, Jeff & Becky visited the giant Semco Stone yard in Missouri while on a business conference. If you want unique rock for a water feature, it is available! They have some amazing rocks. While gone, we learned that a wind storm had blown down a very large, old willow tree across the driveway and onto a car but the girls had successfully cleaned it up before we even got home. Josh, Grandpa, and a good neighbor were called in to help also.

Ethan has been such a blessing to you, our clients. We feel blessed to have him working with us. To get him more opportunity in winter we are testing backflow preventers that are found on irrigation systems. The state code requires these be tested annually and is very closely related to our first love, waterscapes. We sent him to training, we’re building the website, and we’re looking forward to helping him use his diagnostic skills. Look forward to him being around still in your waterscapes but in a more expanded role!
We also started a fish rescue and over 250 goldfish and Koi found a new home in our warm shed for the winter! This had a two-fold purpose; to keep non-native fish out of MN waters and to provide a cozy winter home for special fish. Extra fish will be for sale at the Friend’s Plant Sale in May or directly from our greenhouse during the growing season.

As we look back on 2024, we are thankful- thankful for you and the opportunity to serve your pond needs! We are also very thankful for Jeff recovering from his concussion (summer 2023). The effects from that lasted over a year and exposed some areas where we need better diagnostic, repair, and construction procedures. We are also very thankful to have Angelica back as our super-admin-assistant! She came back around September.
Each spring we look forward to a fresh start on business along with new ways to do things. This year is no different. With Jeff’s head screwed on tighter, Angelica whipping up processes, Lolene keeping the books orderly, and a crew practicing in the shed all winter, we hope to serve you better, quicker, and more expertly in 2025!
If there are any questions we haven’t answered or you’d like to see in future articles please reply or reach out. We are always looking for new things to explore to help you have a better experience with your waterscape from small front door features to the swim ponds!
