Spring! It is time! Time to add water treatments if you want your pond water to be clear and clean. But what treatment should you use? Beneficial Bacteria- the secret weapon, the powerhouse of clear water, fish safe, pet safe, & natural. Pond health can be significantly improved by adding beneficial bacteria to your pond.
There are several ways to add bacteria.
You can use the automatic dosing system which adds it automatically, then just change out the bag of “maintain” as often as calculated out. Some people ask Siri to “remind me in 20 days to put a new bag of maintain in” and she’ll do just that!
You can add bacteria by hand on a weekly basis or more.
-Cold Water Beneficial Bacteria when water is under 55 degrees.
-Beneficial Bacteria for when the water is over 55 degrees, powder or liquid.
-Waterfall and Rock Cleaner is pro-grade, or use SAB for regular grade. Use this on algae if/when you get it for an added boost.
Add these products daily for the first 2 weeks after the pond is started, then weekly after that.
Some people love using Barley Extract, we’ve never gotten into it, mainly because it works best with warm water temps (think above 75F).
